Certification, or licensure, is the process of gatekeeping community sensitive careers in West Virginia. The process is required for both school librarians and public librarians prior to qualifying for employment. Additionally, most all other types of librarian are required to jump through the educational requirement hoop of completing a masters degree program in Library and Information Science prior to qualifying for entry-level positions.
