Librarian Certification Guide for the state of New York
Certification, or licensure, is New York’s process of gatekeeping careers that are community sensitive in nature. For librarians, both school librarians and public librarians are required to hold certification prior to employment. However, most all other types of librarian careers are still guarded by educational requirements in the form of a masters degree in Library and Information Science.
